Overview of Services

 Reverse phase protein array (RPPA) is a high-throughput antibody-based technique developed for Functional Proteomics studies to evaluate protein activities in signaling networks. The RPPA Core provides services to perform such an assay for your studies.


What We Do

  • Perform reverse phase protein arrays on the samples received from customers.
  • Perform custom antibody validation using a reverse phase protein array.
  • Provide standard operating procedures needed for the extraction of proteins from cell lines and tumor tissue for use in the reverse phase protein array studies.
  • Perform primary data analysis using custom software to determine signal intensity, curve construction, and relative protein expression and modification.
  • Perform protein extraction from tumor tissue or cell pellets, upon request (with additional charge), for use in the reverse phase protein array studies (see pricing below).
  • Provide updated lists of antibodies for reverse phase protein array studies:
    • Standard Panel containing ≥290 antibodies (for human samples and mouse cell lines) and ≥225 antibodies (for mouse tissue samples)
  • Provide robust information using a panel of antibodies.
  • Provide a turnaround time within 8-10 weeks of sample submission. However, occasionally, based on workload or equipment failure, analysis may take up to 12 weeks.


Our Staff Director is Yiling Lu, M.D., who has worked on the RPPA platform since 2004 and has directed the Reverse Phase Protein Array - Functional Proteomics Core Facility since 2008.

Antibody Validation

We can process your antibody request through our standard validation platform, including antibody probing on our Cell Line Superslide and Western Blotting on selected cell line lysates upon quality control procedures. Once the antibody passes our validation criteria, we will apply this antibody to the RPPA slide containing your samples. We will report to you if this particular antibody passes our RPPA validation process.

Data Analysis Fee with Heatmaps

Price is per dataset, which includes a report containing raw data, normalized data, and centered-median data and a pair of heatmaps (1 supervised and 1 unsupervised).

Protein Extraction from tissue or cell pellets

Price is per sample.
